Health experts see Hope in Fighting Against Tuberculosis globally

In London- Health experts are very happy to announce that they see hope in fighting against tuberculosis for the very first time since it was stated as a global emergency many decades had passed.

Last Thursday a new report was given by the World Health Organization found that the number of people said to have tuberculosis lessen in the year 2005. According to Dr. Marcos Espinal, the Executive Secretary of WHO’s Stop TB Partnership says that this is considered a breakthrough for it is the first time they had good news regarding the epidemic, which said to be spreading fast since the year of 1993.

In the year 2005 statistics show that there were about 8.8 million of people who were found to be with tuberculosis and about 1.6 million reported as deaths, this is according to the World Health Organization survey.

Meanwhile it is said that the emergence of the deadly version of tuberculosis, which is popularly known as a drug resistant is called XDR-TB, has also complicated efforts to be able to control the illness. The XDR-TB is usually used for the treatment of tuberculosis.

Health experts are also afraid of the fast spread of HIV or AIDS infection to the people in Africa for it might weaken their immune system.

According to health experts the lacks of access to treatments that exist nowadays are threaten to become bigger killers worldwide compare to the drug resistant strains.

It is said that people who have tuberculosis that are sensitive to drugs will have a chance of dying because of failing in the simple access cheap treatment that experts had been using for 40 years.

It is said that it takes about 6 months before patients with tuberculosis can get better.

Health experts added that they are working on ways to merge tuberculosis and AIDS treatment programs to make a serious control on the said diseases. It is reported that HIV is fueling the growth in tuberculosis epidemic.
